Royal Palm South Beach Hotel and Resort

When vacationing in South Beach, you expect decadence. Skimming the shores of the ocean, it is obvious to see that there are numerous luxury hotels and resorts that offer just that–so how does one decide which to choose? The Royal Palm Hotel is your answer.

The Royal Palm South Beach is appropriately named; prepared to offer you the royal treatment.  Ideally located, you can enjoy beachfront access while only being steps away from fine dining, nightlife, and shopping. The resort is loyal to its history, rich with original architecture, while still surprising guests with its contemporary, tropic vibe.

The Rooms

The resort offers rooms to accommodate all budgets.  The most wallet-friendly option, starting at $118 per night, is the Classic Room with your choice of a king bed or two double beds. The spacious room can sleep up to four people.  It also gives guests a view of the city or a glimpse of the ocean out of the floor to ceiling windows and includes a dining nook and work area.  Your next option is the Deluxe View Room, which starts at $152. Your views here will be slightly better because you are guaranteed a room in the resort’s tower, and your accommodations will be more roomy and comfortable in this modern, ample space.

Starting at the same price, the Oceanfront Rooms are the same size as the Deluxe but are geared more for couples, equipped with a king size bed and a balcony with an ocean view.  The Studio Suite starts at $167, and is perfect for the those planning an extended stay, or just want more of a homey feel.  The suite has a seating area, spacious bathroom, step-out balcony, or floor to ceiling windows with a spectacular view.  Apartment suites are also available.  The one bedroom Apartment Suite is similar to the Studio Suite but slightly larger.  The Two Bedroom Apartment is ideal for large families or groups traveling together. It can sleep up to six comfortably, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a living room, dining room, and wet bar.  These accommodations start at $346.

No matter what option you choose, each room will provide you with a coffee/tea maker, at least one 42-inch flat screen LCD TV, a minibar, lavish bath amenities, Wi-Fi, hairdryer, plush bathrobes and slippers, iron and ironing board, and all beds are topped with 100% crisp Egyptian cotton linens.

Prepare to be impressed–this resort includes two swimming pools, a plunge pool, a poolside bar, lounge, full-service spa, a gym that is open 24 hours, a retail shop (perfect to pick up souvenirs), five restaurants/bars to cover all meals, and over 10,000 feet of inside and outside event space!  The resort is a popular destination for weddings, and it’s simple to see why. Other than having everything you would need to host a wedding, it’s in a coveted location with pristine views and access to anything and anywhere you could desire.

Spend your day lounging in a cabana by either of the pools, surrounded by palm trees while listening to the ocean breeze.  If you prefer having your toes in the sand, the beach is just steps away. If the salty air and warm sun do not fulfill all of your relaxation needs, visit the Privai Spa for a variety of soothing and rejuvenating treatments fit for a queen.

Another surprise that may put you at ease–you can bring Fluffy! Yes, pets are welcome at the Royal Palm for a one time $75 fee. Let the hotel know in advance and they will ready your room for your travel companion.  The in-house restaurant will even bring your pet a customized meal.  Really.

Dining and Nightlife

The Royal Palm South Beach resort does an impressive job at walking the line between a cool, modern style and a classic, tropical elegance.  Whether you desire a sunset dinner on the beach or a quick bite on your way to go sight-seeing, the options are available to you.

Head over to the Florida Cookery for an expansive breakfast buffet.  Open from 7:00-11:30 a.m. it’s the perfect start to your day. Choose from local specialties or order from the menu.  And, make sure to order the bottomless mimosas–obviously.

The newly renovated Grove Restaurant gives guests the opportunity to enjoy their lunch or dinner outside.  Enjoy the panoramic views of the beach, ocean, and hotel grounds while savoring dishes made with local ingredients.

Byblos is a Mediterranean influenced restaurant, open nightly for dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable yet chic, with couches for seating and cool blues, yellows, and beige accents. Spoil yourself with its gourmet menu, or stop in their lounge for a specialty cocktail during happy hour.  The lounge is open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights for the lively, bar-hopping crowd.

Step back in time at The Compass Rose Bar where the menu looks like a post-prohibition newspaper while being surrounded by 1930s architecture.  The menu boasts popular cocktails from the era, but of course, you can also enjoy your choice of many ice cold beers.  The bar also serves light snacks and bites to hold you over until your next meal.

Sip your favorite cocktail pool-side at the Palm Island Bar. With views as incredible as this, it’s not difficult to see why! Steps from the beach and open until 11:00 p.m. it’s a laid back spot for happy hour or meeting friends.

Room Service

Like every luxury resort should, in-room service is available to all guests 24 hours a day, so whether you had a late night and are craving a bacon cheeseburger, or maybe you just don’t feel like getting out of bed just yet, your next meal is only a phone call away.

If you feel like venturing out of the resort, you will be close to a plethora of choices to choose from.  You have direct beach and boardwalk access, and are only blocks away from Lincoln Rd. and Espanola Way, which offers numerous fine dining, entertainment, and shopping options.
